I’m with Lauren Clement of Lauren Nicole Designs, where outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, and she did the interior design work for a client for this home. It’s fabulous. We’re going to be talking about window treatments and all the things that you might want to know about doing window treatments in your home. So let’s talk about the window treatments behind us and how you chose these as what we were going to do and how you chose the scale and the types of um, drapery you chose here. Yes, absolutely. Draperies for me are like icing on the cake. When I’m designing a room. They really are the finishing touch. They really draw your eyes right up. And that’s what we did here. This is one of the first things that you see when you walk in the front door of this home. This is a beautiful warm, welcoming room. Um, but we love having these draperies as one of your focal points here. So the fabric here, you can see it’s got a nice neutral background, has that geometric pattern to it. Um, which really is a nice compliment to the other fabrics in the space. You decided to go above the window seal and not take it all the way up to the ceiling, but kind of stop it at a certain point. How do you decide where to start and stop when you’re looking at window treatment? Absolute, it’s a great question. So I look at how much room do we have between the top of the casing of the window, the bottom of the crown molding that attaches to the ceiling and you see how much height you have there. As a rule of thumb, I like to have about four inches. My draperies start at about four inches above the window casing. So here we had about two feet of drywall space there. So you can see I went above half. I don’t like to cut things right in half. So thirds are typically better. Um, and so that way it allows for, again, that height, it actually makes this room feel so much taller because we went up higher. You used a custom fabricator and did not order these online. So what is the benefit of working with a custom fabricator who can give you exactly what you want with your window treatments? Yes, when new treatments can be tricky. So you do want to make sure that you have all of your measurements, the right tools, and the right people to carry out your vision. We’ve got our three finger pinch plead. We have double turn hems. We have fully lined draperies. I often add beaded weights in the bottom of the hems to make sure that they hold their weight and their shape and don’t flare out at all. So all of these things that are these little details that the client may not see, but it creates this beautiful drapery in the end, that work room is able to carry out exactly what I needed to have done. Thank you so much for joining me. Thank you so much for having me. So again, I’m with Lauren Clement of Lauren Nicole designs in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.
